New Exhibit Opens Thursday

Join us for the opening of a new exhibit, Both Can Be True, by Western Pennsylvania artist and educator Darryl Audia Jr., with an opening reception on August 6, from 6 to 8 p.m.

His exhibit presents paintings that explore how people connect, remember, and search for meaning—even when answers don’t come easily.
Audia’s work is built from layered patterns, repeated marks, and structures that sometimes break apart. The shapes in his paintings suggest things like woven fabric, stained glass, or even the pathways of the brain—forms that can bring people together and keep them apart at the same time. The places where color fades or a line cracks open aren’t mistakes. They’re invitations to look deeper. Figures have begun to appear in the work as well—not as portraits, but as emotional presences. They rise out of the patterns around them and fade back into them, much the way people can feel both close and distant at the same time.

The title Both Can Be True says it simply: connection and separation, memory and the present moment, uncertainty and hope can all exist at once. The work doesn’t try to choose between them. It just makes room for all of it. Audia has spent more than two decades teaching art and mentoring young artists. That spirit of patience and openness comes through in every piece.

The exhibit will be on display from August 6 to 29.
