Anne Sullivan, one of the top harpists in the country, will perform in Huntingdon on Sunday, December 10, at 2 p.m., as part of the Arts Council’s Christmas show.
Ms. Sullivan was a child prodigy and began performing with the Philadelphia Orchestra when she was only 12 years old. Since then she has become one of the most sought after harpists in the country and has accompanied many award-winning recording artists.
She has performed live with a variety of Symphony and Chamber Orchestras on the east coast and has released two CDs of harp music. She currently teaches harp at the University of Delaware and Swarthmore (PA) College. Although a native of Philadelphia, Ms. Sullivan maintains a teaching studio near State College in Pennsylvania.
The harp is one of the world’s oldest instruments and appears often in folklore, mythology, and religion. Today the harp is still considered to be one of the most beautiful of all musical instruments.
Joan Marsh—an accomplished flute instructor and performer—will accompany Anne Sullivan. As you will discover, the flute and harp sound heavenly together!
