About the Instructor:
Yali Pei is a Chinese artist currently enjoying her retirement years by painting in the traditional Chinese style and creating intricate paper cuttings. She previously worked as an art teacher for ten years before transitioning to the Municipal Education Bureau, where she focused on teaching research. After retiring, she founded the Taiyuan Educational Calligraphy and Painting Institute and served as its director. During this time, she organized mountain painting trips for students and teachers. She also held exhibitions and competitions for art teachers, compiling the winning works into published collections. Additionally, she spearheaded charity events that provided books, art supplies, and painting materials to children in underprivileged areas. Nature has always been her greatest inspiration, and she often travel to the mountains to fuel my creativity. She especially enjoy painting traditional Chinese subjects such as mountains, flowers, and birds. Her work has been exhibited in China and collected by friends from Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and other parts of the world. She aspires to bring more Chinese art to the United States, blending Chinese cultural elements with Western art to create unique works. She also look forward to connecting, learning, and collaborating with more friends alike to further enrich my artistic journey.
Since Yali Pei does not speak English, a translating app (requiring Wi-Fi) will be used to assist with communication. However, as the painting process is highly visual, instructions will remain easy to follow. Additionally, her daughter, Olivia Lan, will be available to help answer questions during the final 10-20 minutes of the class.
