We got an overwhelming 307 entries for Spring Thaw, our annual youth art & writing exhibition, from all ends of Huntingdon County.

The exhibit runs through April 1 and is open Tuesday through Saturday, from 10 am to 5 pm.

So come out and check out the creativity of our Huntingdon County youth!

We are excited to invite K to 12 students to submit their art and writing to SpringΒ ThawΒ 2023, a juried Youth Art & Writing Exhibition by the Huntingdon County Arts Council. The exhibit will be open to the public at the new Huntingdon County Arts Center (the former 12th Street Methodist Church), 313 12th Street, Huntingdon.

ArtΒ Submissions

Monday & Tuesday,Β March 6 & 7, from 2 to 6 pm
at the new Huntingdon County Arts Center (the former 12th Street Methodist Church), 313 12th Street, Huntingdon.
There is an entry fee of $1 per entry. Entry is limited to 1 entry per category per person.

WritingΒ Submissions

PublicΒ Show: Open March 10 to April 1, on Tuesday to Saturday, fromΒ 10 am-5 pm each day

Opening Reception: Friday, March 10, from 6 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be served.

PickΒ Up: All entries must be picked up onΒ Monday or Tuesday, April 3 & 4, from 2 – 6 pm.

RulesΒ for AllΒ Submissions: All entries must be accompanied by a Spring Thaw 2023 Entry Form.

The top part of the entry form must be attached to each entry, and the bottom part of the entry form must be handed at the time of submission. All entries must be recent works of original design and execution by the entrant.

VisualΒ Arts: Artwork must be ready for installation. 2-D and photography works must be mounted or framed and ready to hang with a string, wire or hook securely attached. Items may not exceed 50 lbs or 50 inches. Items that are not properly prepared for display will not be accepted. Bring entries to the Huntingdon County Arts Center, (formerly 12th Street Methodist Church), 313 12th Street, Huntingdon, on Monday or Tuesday, March 6 & 7, from 2 to 6 pm or by appointment (call 814-643-6220 or e-mail [email protected]).

Writing: Writing entries can be in hard copy form OR can be emailed to [email protected]. Prose entries cannot exceed 4 pages, printed one side, preferably typed and double-spaced. Poetry is limited to 40 lines. Writers must identify their work only with an attached entry form; the writer’s name must NOT appear on the writing itself. Writing submissions will be displayed during the exhibition. Send entries to HCAC, 313 12th Street, Huntingdon, PA, 16652.

All writing entries must be received by the end of day, Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

New Digital Category: A new 2-D Digital Category has been added this year. Anything made via computer, tablet, ipad, phone or any electronic device should be entered in the Digital Category.
