Folk College Concerts–Big Talent Comes to Huntingdon

Category:Concerts

Mark your calendars for the upcoming musical extravaganza on May 26th and 27th at Juniata College in Huntingdon. These two days feature unforgettable concerts by a lineup of nationally renowned musicians, promising an experience like no other.

On Friday, May 26th, be mesmerized by the talents of host band Simple Gifts, country blues duo Piedmont BlΕ«z, and new old-fashioned duo Resonant Rogues, who are set to perform a variety of genres and bring the house down with their unique style and sound.

On Saturday, May 27th, Asia meets Appalachia group Appalasia, Celtic duo Rakish, and Pittsburgh-based folk/Americana group Buffalo Rose take center stage, delighting the audience with their unmatched skills and musical prowess. After the concert, there will be a contradance, where a patient caller will teach each dance during the night, and both dancers and spectators are welcome.

The concerts start at 7 pm and are held at the Brumbaugh Academic Center on the Juniata College campus in Huntingdon. Tickets are available at the door for $20, and everyone is welcome to attend.

The full Folk College weekend is geared towards area musicians and is packed with workshops, concerts, jamming, singing, and dancing, with both professional and amateur musicians in attendance. This event brings nationally renowned musicians to Huntingdon County, and local residents can participate or enjoy some excellent concerts by these talented performers.

One of the critical factors contributing to its success is the friendly and welcoming atmosphere, which is all-inclusive and essential to the festival’s design by Linda Littleton, founder of Folk College, Artistic Director, and member of Simple Gifts. Musicians and staff are chosen not only for their expertise but also for their ability to interact with people.

Don’t miss this opportunity to witness some of the best musicians in the country at Folk College, an event that has been named one of the Top 25 Summer Music Camps by Acoustic Guitar Magazine. Come and enjoy a musical feast that will leave you spellbound!
