Free Holiday Concert, Sunday, December 4, 2 pm

Category:Uncategorized

To help everyone get in the holiday mood this year, the Huntingdon County Arts Council is organizing a free Holiday Variety Show. The show will take place at the Huntingdon County Arts Center on Sunday, December 4 at 2 p.m. The event will feature a mix of local performers and types of entertainment, all with winter holiday themes.

The show will begin with members of the Huntingdon Regional Ballet performing selected dances from the Nutcracker Ballet—a perennial holiday favorite. Kristen Roberts, Artistic Director of the Ballet, will be directing the performance. The dancing will be followed by holiday music from two Huntingdon Area High School choirs, Belles and Beaus and Camerata, with Trisha Johnson serving as the Musical Director.

The second half of the program will feature local poets reading original works related to wintertime and the holiday season. The poets are Claire Holzner, Pam Kavanaugh, Nick Miller, James Pingry, and Susan Rumpf. The variety show also will include musical performances from Keith Sutton on organ, Larry Mutti on autoharp, and Grace Fala on guitar and vocals.

Light refreshments will be available during the intermission. During this time, people will have an opportunity to view the diverse art and craft offerings from the Arts Council’s Holiday Shoppe, now located on the mezzanine level of the Arts Center.

If you haven’t been to the new Arts Center yet, this will be a good opportunity to check it out. Tickets are not required. So come to the Holiday Variety Show and be entertained, meet up with friends and neighbors, and perhaps do a little holiday shopping while you are there.

The Arts Center is located at 313 12th Street in Huntingdon (corner of Mifflin and 12th Street). Parking is available directly behind the building. For further information, contact Executive Director John Kearns at 814 643-6220.
