Category:Concerts

If you enjoy classical music, you won’t want to miss the JANO Duo at the Arts Center on Sunday, April 23, at 2 p.m. The combination of flute and cello will sound heavenly in our new concert hall.

Naomi Seidman (flute) and Jonathan Dexter (cello) formed the JANO Duo in State College over a decade ago, and since then, they have performed at numerous venues across the country. This spring, they are headed to Bangkok to play at the 2023 Thailand Flute Festival.

Naomi Seidman has won many prestigious musical awards and has performed as a soloist with multiple orchestras. She earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California at Santa Barbara, a Master of Music degree from Yale University, and a Doctoral Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. Naomi joined the Penn State faculty in 2012 and is an Associate Professor of Flute. She is currently involved in several commissioned projects to expand the repertoire for flute and cello. A dedicated educator, she has presented master classes on flute at many universities.

Jonathan Dexter has recorded and performed with a variety of Grammy award-winning artists and producers in the classical, rock, pop, and country music fields. Performance highlights include appearances on the Jimmy Fallon Show, The View, VH1, Billboard Music Online, Fox and Friends, and Rachel Ray. Working from his home studio, he records string music for projects around the world, including television and movie backgrounds. He also engineers audio recordings for Penn State music faculty. He received performance degrees from Oberlin Conservatory, the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest, and the University of Texas at Austin.

Tickets are $20 for general admission and $16 for Arts Council members and students (with ID). Children 12 and under are free. The Art Center is located at 313 12th Street in Huntingdon.
