Kids Summer Camps for 2025

Looking for a way to keep your kids engaged and creative this summer? The Huntingdon County Arts Council is excited to offer a series of fun and enriching summer camps for children, starting June 16. With a wide range of hands-on activities, and each week focusing on a unique theme, the camps are a perfect opportunity for children to explore their artistic side while having fun.

Camp Details

The summer camps will run for five weeks, from June 16 to July 25. (No summer camp the week of 4th of July, Classes are held Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Each week will explore a different theme, keeping the activities fresh and exciting for children of all interests.

The cost for each week is just $100 per child, offering great value for parents looking for a safe and engaging way to spend the summer. Whether your child enjoys painting, drawing, theater, or simply learning something new, there’s something for everyone at the Arts Council’s summer camps. There are some scholarships available; the details are below.

Camp Theme Week Details

Week 1: June 16 – 20

Group 5 – 8 year -olds
Art and Acting with Puppets with Adam Swartz

In this exciting camp, kids will design and build a variety of puppets and bring them to life with improvisation and acting exercises, storytelling games and professional puppeteer tricks-of-the-trade. In addition, kids will learn a little puppet history and explore puppetry types including shadow puppets, marionettes, and Muppet-style hand puppets.

Graphic Design in Canva with Kelly Cunninham 

Join us for an exciting hands-on workshop where you’ll learn to bring your creative ideas to life using Canva, vinyl cutting, and heat pressing techniques! Over the course of five days, you’ll explore various aspects of design and production, gaining the skills to create custom, professional-quality designs for t-shirts and other items.

Week 2: June 23- 27

Group 5-8 year-olds|
Comic Week with Kelly Cunningham 

Unleash your creativity in this exciting, hands-on workshop, where you’ll bring your very own superhero to life! Over five action-packed days, you’ll sketch, paint, create a storyline, and craft a clay figure, culminating in a one-of-a-kind superhero creation that’s all yours.

Cookie and Cake Decorating with Ali Abbatiello

Join us for a delicious, hands-on workshop where you’ll learn the art of baking and decorating cakes and cupcakes! Over the course of five days, you’ll master essential baking techniques and discover creative decorating skills that will make your cakes and cupcakes look as amazing as they taste.

Week 3: July 7-11

Group 5-8 year-olds
Painting with Watercolors and Acrylic with Kelly Cunningham

Come join us for a fun and creative five-day painting adventure! You’ll get to explore different ways to paint, from the bright and beautiful strokes of Impressionism to creating peaceful landscapes like Bob Ross. Learn how to paint with watercolors, experiment with new techniques, and even create cool animal portraits using colorful, exciting designs. This class is all about having fun while discovering your inner artist and bringing your ideas to life.

Group 9-12 year-olds

Spark Tank . . . Trash or Treasure? with Grace Fala

Inventors Wanted for Central Pennsylvania’s unique spin of Shark Tank. Campers are invited to create, develop, and market a playfully useful product that sparks interest among friends and neighbors! 

Week 4: July 14-18

Sculpture Techniques with Kelly Cunningham

Come join us for a fun and hands-on five-day art class where you’ll create some amazing projects! You’ll work with materials like polymer clay and paper mache to bring your ideas to life. From sculpting realistic objects to designing your own unique pieces, this class lets you explore different techniques while working on exciting projects like pancake stacks, cake slices, and personalized mugs. Along the way, you’ll learn new skills, get creative, and have plenty of time to add your own special touches to each project.

Visual Arts through Clay with Lynn Anne Verbeck

Come explore the world of visual arts through the exciting medium of clay combined with mixed media! This fun, hands-on camp will guide you through a variety of sculpting and crafting techniques, where you’ll build, design, paint, and create unique works of art. Join instructor Lynn Anne Verbeck for five creative days of learning, crafting, and fun!

Week 5: July 21-25

Group 5-8 year-olds
Perspective, Dimensions, and Optical Illusions with Kelly Cunningham

In this five-day art class you’ll dive into exciting projects and learn some cool techniques! You’ll explore fun illusions, like making letters pop off the paper, and experiment with vibrant space shape bursts. As the week continues, you’ll create both 1D and 2D designs, gather your supplies, and work together on a 3D group project. You’ll finish the class by exploring the world of geometric curve art, using shapes and patterns to create something truly unique.

Group 9-12 year-olds
Storytelling Through Movement with Anne Van Kuren

Join us for an inspiring class that combines storytelling with dance! Through stories rooted in nature and the environment, including Native American tales, Aztec legends, and folktales from Pacific Islanders and other cultures, we’ll explore how these narratives can come to life through movement. Using these stories as a foundation, you’ll engage in creative movement experiences and choreography, ultimately developing your own dance piece inspired by the rich history and culture of these ancient tales.

Registration

Parents can register their children online in one of three ways:

  1.  Register online by filling  out the form below
  2.  In person at the Arts Center.
  3.  Complete the registration form at this link and mail it in, along with a check.

Spots are limited, so it’s recommended to sign up early to guarantee a spot in the camp of your choice.

Huntingdon County Arts Council
Lainey Albaugh will perform in concert at the Huntingdon County Arts Center. She is a soprano and is a senior vocal performance major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her recital will feature selections from both classical and musical theater repertoire, including works by Puccini, Strauss, Richard Rodgers, and Stephen Schwartz. Originally from Huntingdon, Lainey appeared in several local musicals before continuing her studies at IUP. Recent roles include Jo in Little Women and Gretel in Hansel and Gretel.Lainey will be accompanied by Cheryl Latten.
