Description

Andrew Greene will perform a ragtime piano music concert.

Andrew Greene is an accomplished ragtime pianist and scholar of ragtime music. He has performed at many prestigious venues in the United States, including the Kennedy Center, the West Coast Ragtime Festival, and The Scott Joplin Ragtime Festival. He also is the Founder, Conductor, and Director of the Peacherine Ragtime Society Orchestra, which the Washington Post hailed as “the premier American Ragtime ensemble.”

Andrew is one of the country’s leading authorities on orchestral ragtime music and silent film accompaniment, and he has dedicated much of his career to preserving America’s original popular music. He is the curator of several ragtime music collections and also maintains an extensive personal collection of orchestrated ragtime music and recordings. These collections totals over 15,000 selections of music from 1862 to 1950.

In his program with the Huntingdon County Arts Council, Andrew will highlight the music of Scott Joplin, alongside other leading composers from the early 20th century. Join us Sunday, January 22 for an afternoon of toe-tapping music from a century ago!

The concert will be on Sunday, January 22 at 2 p.m. at Huntingdon County Arts Center (formerly the 12th Street Methodist Church) at the corner of 12th & Mifflin Streets in Huntingdon.

Tickets are $20 for the general public and $16 for current Arts Council members and students (with ID). Children under 12 are free.

Tickets can be purchased online at huntingdoncountryarts.com, at the Arts Center during exhibition hours, or at the door.
