Description
As part of Folk College, a live folk music concert is open to the public.
Join us as outstanding music talent performs at the Folk College concert on Friday, May 22, at Juniata College.
The concert features host band Simple Gifts, Ponyfolk, and Low Lilly (photo).
State College-based Simple Gifts (also the artistic directors for the weekend of programming) will perform music pulled from the early American repertoire but will blend in the Balkan and klezmer sounds of southern and eastern Europe, arranged to highlight the tableful of instruments these talented women play.
The musicians of Ponyfolk will bring a more modern sensibility that has been characterized as Indie/Folk/Rock. Singing with compelling harmonies and backed up by both acoustic and electric instrumentation, their music is alternately driving and ethereal. The group takes its inspiration from American and Scandinavian musical traditions.
The music of Low Lilly has a decidedly traditional sound reflecting both Appalachian and Celtic influences and featuring tight, haunting vocal harmonies supported by guitar and mandolin. Their music will speak to your soul.
The concert starts at 7 pm at the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata College campus in Huntingdon, PA.
Tickets are available at the door or in advance at the Huntingdon County Arts Center.
