Class Description:
Participants will learn how to prepare wool yarn for dyeing. We will discuss grocery store dyes, wicking, and immersion dyeing. The participants will have the opportunity to dye two skeins of fingering weight yarn using Jacquard dyes, and the drip method of dyeing.

Wednesday/ 1 session
March 19, 1:00-4:00 p.m.

Adult (18+)

Beginner/ No Experience Required

The total cost for the class is $60 for members and $65 for nonmembers. 

Materials:
The cost includes materials.

All materials will be provided by the instructor, including:

  • 2 skeins of fingering weight yarn
  • Dyes
  • Gloves
  • Saran Wrap
  • Vinegar for Vinegar/water mixture
  • Tools needed on

Instructor will provide all necessary tools (on loan and to be returned).

Supplies to Bring:
Participants should bring 2 to 4 old beach towels.
Participant should wear older clothing in case of splashing or spilling of dyes.

The workshop is at the Huntingdon County Arts Center (formerly the 12th Street Methodist Church) at 313 12th Street, Huntingdon.

About the Instructor:
Fran Bowman is a fiber enthusiast who enjoys exploring and learning new techniques of all thing’s fiber.
She enjoys sharing the world of yarn, fabric, and fiber with others.

Huntingdon County Arts Council
Lainey Albaugh will perform in concert at the Huntingdon County Arts Center. She is a soprano and is a senior vocal performance major at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Her recital will feature selections from both classical and musical theater repertoire, including works by Puccini, Strauss, Richard Rodgers, and Stephen Schwartz. Originally from Huntingdon, Lainey appeared in several local musicals before continuing her studies at IUP.
