Arts Council’s Annual Meeting Recap

The Arts Council held its Annual Meeting on Wednesday, December 9 via Zoom. At the Annual Meeting 3 new board members were elected to a new 2-year term starting January 2021. Congratulations to Rob Boryk, Barbara Sanchez, and Susan Wentzel. Reelected to new 2-year terms were current board members Paul Amato, Larry Closz, Judy Hoffman, Ginny Mutti, and Larry Mutti.

Jacob Lawrence: A Great Painter of African American Life

Jacob Lawrence (1917-2000) was a great 20th century African American painter whose work focused on the experiences and everyday lives of African Americans. Although he described his style as “dynamic cubism,” his work had little in common with European cubism. Most of Lawrence’s paintings contrast bright, vivid colors with primarily brown and black human figures.

Our annual Call for Entries exhibit celebrates Lake Raystown's 50th anniversary this year.
