March brings St. Patrick’s Day, and in honor of all things Celtic, the Arts Council is bringing back the musicians of Callanish for a program on Saturday, March 14, at 7 p.m.
The women of Callanish are also familiar faces in the Arts Council’s orbit. The group consists of Patty Lambert, playing flute and concertina, Betsy Gamble on fiddle and pipes, Holly Foy on guitar and bouzouki, and Cate Frickle on vocals and frame drum (bodhran). The group is steeped in the Celtic tradition, having made several excursions to Ireland, seeking out masters of their instruments for instruction. They also host regular Irish pub-style jam sessions in which traditional Celtic tunes are played and sung.
They’ll serve us up a good dose of St. Patty’s Day cheer (minus the ale and stout).
Tickets are $20 for general admission, $16 for members.
Tickets can be purchased at the Arts Center during exhibition hours, at the door, or online.
The mission of the Huntingdon County Arts Council is to enrich Huntingdon County through the encouragement, support and promotion of the arts.
